Started in karts at age 10, won four Tasmanian junior titles, then the Australian championship in 1995. Won the European Formula Ford Championship in ’99. Was awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000. Moved to International V8 Supercar Series in ’01 and was named Rookie of the Year. Scored 25 V8 Supercar victories in five seasons driving for Stone Brothers Racing winning the series championship in ’03 and ’04. Moved stateside to NASCAR, running in the Craftsman Truck and Nationwide Series, before graduating to Sprint Cup in ’08. Had four road course victories… two Cup, one Nationwide at Watkins Glen, plus a Nationwide win at Montreal. Ambrose’s last NASCAR season was ’14. He returned to his native Australia and the V8 Supercars where he drove for DJR Team Penske. He retired from driving in after the 2015 season, returning to his hometown of Lauceton, Tasmania, where he lives with his wife Sonja. The couple have two daughters, Adelaide and Tabitha.
