Started in karts while a student at Baylor, graduating to SCCA club racing and into Barber/SAAB Pro Series in 1986 winning the first series race at the Meadowlands. Won 1990 Atlantic East title and Rookie of the Year. Ran Indy Lights in ’91, winning at Mid-Ohio. Raced CART ’92-’95, with 20 career starts, including 12th at the Indy 500 in ’94. Final season was Trans-Am in •95, finishing 9th in points. Became chief instructor at Mid-Ohio High Performance Driving School in ’94 and still instructs as his motorsports broadcasting schedule permits. Has worked more than 300 events for NBC Sports, CBS, ABC, SPEED, ESPN and TNN.
