Through the years, one of the most popular features in Sports Car has been Hot Lap, whereby an ace driver takes you on a tour of a track he or she is intimately familiar with in order to give you a running start when your car rolls out of the hot pits. The names of those who have contributed to this regular feature are among the who’s who of motorsports, including Peter Cunningham, Jerry Hansen, John Morton, Tom Kendall, Jeff Krosnoff, Bobby Rahal and Dorsey Schroeder.

Hot Lap has been absent from SportsCar for a while, but if you remember when it was a regular feature, you might also recall the one of the most prolific and best periods of Hot Laps was when it was edited by Don Knowles. Well, we are pleased to announce the return of Don Knowles as editor of Hot Laps, this time with the help of his friends in the Road Racing Drivers Club (RRDC).
