DARIO FRANCHITTI IN 2019 MOTORSPORTS HALL OF FAME CLASS

Dario Franchitti will be inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America as the Open Wheel honoree in the 2019 class of seven. The RRDC member’s lassmates include Augie Duesenberg (Historic category), Phil Remington (Sports Cars), Kevin Schwantz (Motorcycles), Don Schumacher (Drag Racing), Tony Stewart (Stock Cars) and Linda Vaughn (At Large).

The 31st Annual MSHFA Induction Celebration is set for March 11-12, 2019, at Daytona Beach.

A native of Scotland, Franchitti is a four-time Indy Car Series Champion (2007, ’09, ’10 and ’11) and a three-time winner of the Indianapolis 500 (’07, ’10 and ’12). One of just three drivers to win the Indy 500, the Indy Car Championship, the 12 Hours of Sebring and the Rolex 24 at Daytona (the others are AJ Foyt and Mario Andretti). Has competed in nearly 200 Indy Car races… scoring 23 poles and 23 victories.

Dario is a Global Ambassador for the RRDC’s on-line driver development Web site, SAFEisFAST.

Franchitti is a three-time winner of the Indianapolis 500.
